On June 23, 1972, as part of the Education Amendments, the United States passed Title IX which “requires that no person be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination on the basis of sex under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” To celebrate the 48th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, ESPN aired a special edition of SC Featured hosted by Elle Duncan that featured stories of trailblazing women that include Althea Gibson, Denise Long, Shelly Pennefather, Pratima Sherpa, Kathrine Switzer, the Silver Bullets and the Flying Queens.. The special is a tribute and celebration of the power and impact of women in sports.
I produced the one-hour long show and feature on the Silver Bullets – a women’s professional baseball team that barnstormed across the country, competing against men’s teams.
